Detour

For my birthday recently, I got an upcoming course with Teresa Wilson Nguyen of Thistle Threads, on working in “crinkled silk,” separated strands of silk floss that when worked in satin stitch have a lovely ripply, crinkly look to them, as in this detail from one of Teresa’s photos of the course’s sampler —

The course starts on the 1st of December, and so I am putting the “Peacock Tapestry” on hold for a while to focus on this. (Yeah, that’s a bit risky, but there it is. I’ve felt a bit close to being sick of it lately, to be honest! It might be good to go back to it with fresh eyes, too.)

Oooh!

And the weather has finally been cool enough to start quilting my “Lucy Diamond,” which still delights me no end! I am just doing a simple hand-stitched line along two edges of each small diamond, so that it is going fairly quickly. I might actually want another quilt soon!

Plus a few patchwork stars here and there! —
