After the enormous headache of trying to backstitch around the gazillion leaves etc. etc. in the upper right-hand corner of the “Peacock Tapestry,” I had the idea of not waiting until I’d finished all of the cross-stitching before adding the outlines, but doing the leaves, then the backstitching around them, and then the frivolous little green flecks among and around the leaves. So far, so good — it is much easier to see where the backstitching is supposed to go, and I’m crossing my fingers that adding in the “flecks” isn’t going to obscure the backstitching much, if at all.

In “Other Crafts” news, I saw this kit from Wonderland Crafts at 123Stitch recently and thought it would make a good Christmas not-a-gift — “just a little something,” you know, for a friend with whom we exchange heartfelt good wishes but not gifts as such. The kit went together quite smoothly in just a few evenings, and was an amusing diversion from His Peacock-ness!
