I’m not entirely sure why the delightful Blackbird wishes us to show-and-tell our butterdish, but here it is —

Butterdish

Bought so many years ago that I’ve long forgotten its origins — plain, serviceable, of a size to hold the longer sticks of butter that seemed so elegant to me, having grown up with the short, fat ones.

Love the butter dish! I collect white dishes and the dish is perfect. However, here we get our butter in 4″x2″x2″ blocks – I have a square butterdish. Funny, but now when I go on holidays, I bring home something that I will see in the kitchen often – reminds me of the trip and the homeiness (?sp) of home!

I love white dishes. I collect white dishes. I mix them with other peices and the table always looks fresh. (What size are your butter sticks?)

    Perfectly nice in it’s simplicity.
Very similar to one of mine! Unfortunately, we still have the short fat bricks of butter here so there is some cutting to do to fit the butter into it.

Elegant. That is the one word to describe your butterdish. Wow.
To comment on your comment on my blog about commenting, But I think half the fun is just being able to say “I feel that way too!” because I don’t see blogging necessarily as intellectual but as connective. When I started blogging, I always felt bad if a post didn’t have any comments and I always felt compelled to comment on something. Intelligent conversation is over-rated. I’m living by the famous E.M Forster quote “Only Connect.”
But I’m one of those hyperactive connective types…

Slender and stylish. Two words I strive for in my world and fall so very short of time and time again.
