Blackbird requests decorations for Show and Tell this week —

Wreath

Since Laura’s birthday is in the middle of December, we wait until after her party to decorate for Christmas, but this wreath arrived in the mail from a cousin who won’t be here for the holidays, so this is all we have for now, bar the anticpation!

In Cinxia news, I finished it off and blocked it, even wore it to the theatre on Sunday when we took the girls to a Christmas matinee.  But I am coming to the reluctant conclusion that I should have made it with a bit more ease, as it tends to slip back off my shoulders a bit, and possibly a bit longer.  I like it anyways, and for my first determined resizing attempt, it is wildly successful — everything is in proportion, and it looks pretty much exactly like the picture!  But I like it too much to not want to wear it, and I don’t want it to sit in the bottom of a drawer because I tug at it constantly (I was aiming at a size M, 42 inches for my 39 bust, so would recommend a little more ease than one might think for a bit of embonpoint).  So, back on the needles she goes!  C’est la vie.

    That’s what I should say!
We don’t decorate until AFTER Middle’s birthday…which is actually true.
That’s a gorgeous wreath, I always cheap out and buy the ones in the supermarket – sometime I will have to splurge and buy a pretty one.

Sorry to hear about Cinxia, but I guess that’s the best thing to do. And I started Backyard Leaves too, so far I’ve got only one and a half leaves but I must say it is a very enjoyable pattern.

My Cinxia does this too–and I did add ease to it! Longer between decreases, made the body longer than called for, etc. Do you think this is the nature of the Cinxia? One of the shoulders tends to pull off–I’m thinking it may be because it is 3/4 sleeve and the cuff hits right below the elbow and tends to pull on it when the elbow bends. I find myself pulling the shoulder up often. It’s plenty wide across, I can overlap the fronts. I think the yoke decreases come too quickly. What do you think?

Jen, I haven’t had time to think about it — will have to wait until after the holidays to rip it, as I’m putting it off a little, even though I feel fairly pragmatic about it. It IS a completely different shape than other sweaters I’ve knitted, and to my knowledge I’ve only ever seen this kind of shaping in yoke-neck pullovers, so I really don’t know. In a pullover, the closeness of the decreases would HELP it stay closer to the neck, I’d guess. I would’t think it was the 3/4-ness of the sleeves but maybe the fact that they are so close-fitting? Hmmm….

I’ve got both Cinxia and Pearl Buck Swing on my Must-knit-for-me list. Do you think either or both could be done in Euroflax linen?
Otherwise due to my wool allergy, I may be FORCED to consider cashmere. Love your Cinxia. xoxo Kay
